Celebrating Today’s Renaissance Woman, recognizing four women who have made a significant impact on art, culture, and activism. Tonight Erika L. Ewing, CEO, and Founder of Got To Stop LLC was the Mistress of Ceremonies. She co-sponsored a historical event presented by Ruby’s Vintage, New York Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Manhattan Community Board 10. We presented Cicely Tyson the Ruby Dee Award for Artist Activism. The award was presented by Hasna Muhammed, Educator, Writer, Visual Artist (daughter of the late Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis.) In addition, we honored Dr. Hazel Dukes, Bernadine James-Callender, and Joyous Pierce. The COVID-19 pandemic has illuminated so much more about the racial inequity and economic disparities in the healthcare system, educational system, political and judicial systems. Having a platform to share healthy ways to cope and brainstorm ways to take action against these injustices is necessary if we are genuinely committed to social transformation change. What l have learned more than ever is society can't go on doing and saying the same things. It literally has cost us our lives, and it's GOT TO STOP! Please listen and share!
